After 18 months volunteering at Mildmay; on the wards and behind the scenes, Leo is moving on. Mildmay Hospital has been featured in Triple Helix, the quarterly magazine of the Christian Medical Fellowship, in an article celebrating our 160-year history of faith-driven, compassionate care. The article traces Mildmay's journey from its founding by Catherine and Revd William Pennefather and the Mildmay Deaconesses responding to the 1866 cholera outbreak, through becoming Europe's first AIDS hospice

Mildmay Hospital has secured £33,800 in charitable funding following its Winter Appeal, ensuring the continuation of vital non-NHS services including chaplaincy, rehabilitation support, and clinical training initiatives. These funds will directly enhance patient care, recovery, and wellbeing in the year ahead.

Holy Week at Mildmay has been marked by daily chapel services, a Good Friday walk through Shoreditch, and a chapel dressed in gold and spring flowers. To mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2026 and the theme Bridging Generations, Mildmay reflected on the importance of carrying Holocaust stories forward as living witnesses become fewer. Through personal testimony linked to the Kindertransport, the talk explored memory, persecution and the responsibility we all share to remember the past and challenge injustice today.

We’re halfway there! £15,590 raised of our £30,000 Winter Appeal. Your support funds specialist care for people facing complex illness, addiction, and homelessness, keeps chaplaincy at the bedside, and sustains rehabilitation. Running until 1 April 2026. Extra funds will strengthen our Uganda Education Exchange. Care can’t wait.
