Giving Thanks for all our Wonderful Volunteers

As we move towards Christmas, yesterday’s Volunteers Event, on Thanksgiving Day, was a timely opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and selflessness of our volunteers.
We gathered to thank those who give their time and skills to support our patients and staff, often travelling long distances and without seeking recognition. Their generous commitment is integral to Mildmay; so much of what we do simply wouldn’t happen without them.
The event included a light lunch and a short presentation, bringing patients and colleagues together to applaud our volunteers. Dominic, our former volunteer coordinator, led a brief concert on guitar with Dr Ben on keyboard. Familiar songs prompted a relaxed sing‑along.
We missed some of our chaplaincy volunteer team who couldn’t be there, but we've set aside their goody bags until we see them again.
Before presenting our token gifts to the assembled group of dedicated volunteers, our CEO, Geoff Coleman, noted: “Mildmay is not just a hospital; it’s a place where compassion and community are lived every day.”
Ahead of World AIDS Day next week, we will gather for a Service to mark its significance in Mildmay’s life - honouring those we’ve lost, recognising progress, and renewing our commitment to care, rehabilitation and inclusion.
To all our volunteers: thank you. Your generosity keeps the spirit of Mildmay shining through this winter and beyond.
