World Aids Day
Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first-ever global health day.
World AIDS Day takes place on 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV, and commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.
In 2024, the Mildmay line was named in recognition of Mildmay Hospital's pioneering care for people with HIV/AIDS in the 1980s and 90s, the LGBTQ+ community today, and the people of East London for over 160 years.
For nearly 40 years, Mildmay has been at the forefront of specialised care for people living with HIV in the UK and overseas.
