Congratulations to Margaret, Mildmay's Dec/Jan MVP!

CEO Geoff awards Margaret her MVP prize

And the winner of the MVP Award for December 2023/January 2024 is….. Margaret Jackson, our fantastic Healthcare Support Worker*, who has been a vital part of the Mildmay clinical team for many years. In fact, Margaret is one of the longest-serving members of the Mildmay Family.

A CEO-shaped handshake and gift voucher are part of the ritual!

Here’s why we voted for Margaret as Mildmay MVP:

“Margaret is very dedicated to her work and always supports patients. She is always available to escort patients for outpatient appointments, to their discharge destinations when needed, and to take samples to the Royal London Hospital. She provides timely feedback to nurses when she sees any changes in a patient's health, which enables nurses to act promptly.”

The bi-monthly award is about recognising the amazing work that people are doing each day, which may fly under the radar.

*The Role of the Healthcare Support Worker

They are at the heart of everything we do - it's a vital role that keeps Mildmay's clinical services running smoothly. They support our patients on their journey back to health, doing everything from taking blood to helping them feel comfortable and at ease. It’s a really special role that is an integral part of our tight-knit multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment where communication is vital – and their compassionate nature has a massive impact.

Mildmay's bi-monthly MVP Awards were devised by one of our physiotherapists, Josh Pedro, who recognised that in addition to the annual staff awards by our Trustees, our resilient, dedicated and hard-working staff deserved a fun way to support each other and recognise excellence in their colleagues.

Aim

This award aims to recognise the amazing things that Mildmay staff do daily, which may otherwise fly under the radar. By bringing this to the forefront, we can impart regular goodwill and warm, fuzzy feelings into the workplace and give our staff the appreciation they deserve!

Description

The Mildmay MVP Award is a bi-monthly, ‘people’s vote' type staff awards system. Candidates are nominated by and voted for by staff. No hierarchy!

Every couple of months, we ask for nominations for who our staff think has been the Mildmay MVP. You can nominate any member of staff (clinical, non-clinical, senior management, catering, finance, facilities, etc.) and this can be for anything big (saving someone’s life) or small (being really smiley every day).

Once the nominations are in, we can all vote for the winner in an online poll. Everyone sees the nominations, so even if they don’t ‘win’, hopefully, it feels nice to be recognised publicly.

Prize

Gift vouchers from a selection.

MVP?

On social media and chat forums, MVP means "Most Valuable Player." In this context, the MVP is the player in a sports team whose individual performance is considered the most significant. MVPs can be chosen for their performance throughout a season or in a particular competition or game.
