The fifth candle of advent is lit on Christmas Day

Today we light the fifth, white, candle - the bright centre of the Advent wreath - a simple symbol of light, hope, and new beginnings.

To our friends, patients, families, supporters, partners, and colleagues - near and far - thank you. Your kindness, courage, and generosity help us bring dignity, care, and connection to people who need it most.

Wishing you all peace and joy

at this special time of the year.

Thank you for your support.

May this season bring you peace, good health, and moments of joy, and may the year ahead be bright for us all. With gratitude from everyone at Mildmay.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.”

John 1:5

The Word becomes flesh; God makes a home among us. Christ’s light is unextinguished, illuminating every corner: weakness and wonder, grief and gladness, loneliness and belonging. We celebrate a love that arrives with humility, heals with compassion, and sends us out as bearers of light.

Christmas Prayer

Lord Jesus, come.

Come into our weakness, fears, and anxieties.

Come into our failures and divisions.

Come into our grieving and our loneliness.

Come into our darkness and our doubting.

Come into our despair and our poverty of heart.

Come into our searching, our joys, and our hopes.

Come into our dying and into our living.

Come, Lord Jesus - be our light, our love, our joy, and our peace.

Amen
